NACJ UDUS President Promises Members Innovative Initiatives, Inclusiveness and Skill Development

Hussein Wahab Kehinde, a 400 level student of law, a former editor of News Digest Press who doubles as the new president of the National Association of Campus Journalists (NACJ), Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS), has during his inaugural speech pledged to implement innovative initiatives, foster inclusivity and provide skill development opportunities for all members.

On Saturday, November 9, 2023, Hussein's name was announced at the Annual Award and Dinner night organized by National Association of Campus Journalist, an avenue where skills, experience and hard work of committed members are being appreciated.

In his inaugural speech titled "The President's Note," the newly sworned leader expressed his gratitude for the leadership role he has being bestowed with and excitement for the opportunity to serve the association. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but emphasized his belief in the collective power of the association to achieve its goals.

The president extended his heartfelt appreciation to the outgoing executives, led by Olokooba, for their dedication and contributions to the growth of NACJ, UDUS. He particularly highlighted their successful initiatives, such as UDEME's pitching training, CJID and ICIR training, which have set a commendable standard for the association.

The president congratulated the award winners for their well-deserved recognition. He praised their commitment to journalistic excellence and dedication to truth and transparency, which serve as an inspiration to others. He encouraged them to continue their exemplary work but also urged all members, regardless of award status, to remain focused on their goals and not be discouraged by setbacks.

Looking forward, the president outlined several fresh initiatives aimed at furthering elevating impact for the association. These include exploring innovative storytelling formats, amplifying underrepresented voices, and strengthening ties beyond campus journalism.

He emphasized the importance of unity and inclusivity, committing to work with all outfits to ensure that every member feels welcome and valued. He also pledged to provide opportunities for members to develop essential skills through mentorship programs, workshops and collaboration with experienced journalists.

The president emphasized his commitment to transparency and open communication. He pledged to keep members informed about the association's activities and decisions, and to encourage open dialogue and feedback.

Expressing his confidence in the collective potential of the association, the president declared his ambition to leave an indelible mark on the history of NACJ, UDUS. He urged members to work together with him to make a positive impact and achieve remarkable things.

The president's message concludes with an optimistic outlook and a call to action, setting the stage for a promising future for the National Association of Campus Journalists at the Usman Danfodiyo University sokoto.
